Nano

Terms of Use

Last updated: October 23, 2026

These terms cover Nano, the free and open source Mac app built by valenxi, and the site at trynano.app.

The app

Nano is free. There's nothing to buy, no account and no subscription.

The source code is released under the MIT license. You can use, copy, change and share it, including in your own projects, as long as you keep the copyright and license notice. The license is the full set of terms for the code.

No warranty

Nano is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. As the MIT license says, the authors aren't liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the software or its use.

Nano can approve commands your coding agents ask to run. You decide what to allow, and you're responsible for what your agents do on your Mac.

Other services

Some features talk to services Nano doesn't run, such as your coding agents' providers, Apple WeatherKit, GitHub, speech model hosts and the apps you sync Cues with. Their own terms apply when you use them.

Names and trademarks

Claude, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Grok, Kimi, OpenCode, Pi and other product names belong to their owners. Nano isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them. "Nano" and the Nano icon are used to identify this project; forks should use their own name and icon.

This website

You can browse and link to this site freely. Don't attack it, scrape it in a way that harms it, or pass off its content as your own.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes too.
